SEASONAL CONSISTENCE
The only produce the market did not offer on this day but that was in season was cabbage, lettuce, peppers, radishes, spinach and turnips.
WHAT’S UNIQUE?
The 82nd Street Greenmarket is one of the only ones I’ve seen to offer organic chocolate. The chocolate itself is delectable – it has the perfect sweetness, yet retains its strong cocoa flavor. In addition, the Maple Candy and Sugar that Wood Homestead offers is extremely useful; many people have sweet teeth, and maple candy is one of the the most amazing, least processed candy one can find out there. In addition, maple sugar is a refreshing twist to regular sugar. Lastly, the 82nd Street Greenmarket offered every fruit in season at the time, a feat I have seen no other Greenmarket achieve thus far.
PRICING
Relatively high prices.
Wood Homestead Maple Syrup: $6/half pint
American Seafood Lobster: $9.99/lb
Blueberries: $4/box
ACTUALLY LOCAL?
The food offered at the 82nd Street Greenmarket is very local; farm locations range from Ulster County, New York to Cumberland County, New Jersey.
CONVENIENCE
The 82nd Street Greenmarket is shaped like a “T:” one segment of the T is on the sidewalk of 82nd between 1st and York, and the other is inside a park tangent to the sidewalk. Gated and lush with trees, scattered benches and people, the park is a great hang-out and eating area for all who enjoy the outdoors. The Greenmarket is not very near the other markets, so it is essential in its place, and hoards of people visit it every Saturday up until it closes. Some loyal customers come religiously!
NAVIGATION
Easy to navigate.

FINAL COMMENTS
If the market had meat and more dairy, I think it would thrive even more in the community, and the residents could also rely upon it for all of their groceries. Because almost all of the food is gone by 3 PM, the vendors should stock more food at the market if possible, so that people aren’t disappointed if they sleep in on a Sunday. Otherwise, the market is brilliant!
